Meishoku is here in Singapore!

I was so excited when I saw this at Guardian yesterday. They had finally brought in Meishoku which is a renowned skincare and cosmetics brand in Japan. However, they didn't bring in their signature skin lotion. Argh! Nevertheless, the other products got me excited enough!
One of their best selling item! Organic Rose Skin Conditioner and Gel for dehydrated skin.
For people who are a fond reader of Taiwanese and Japanese magnazines, I'm sure this
product is familiar to you. It has topped many awards and recommended countless times.
The skin conditioner has a sweet scent of rose and extremely hydrating.

Porerina hot cleansing gel for blackheads. This is nominated as the TOP 1 pore
refining cleanser in Mina Awards 2012.

Porerina cleansing mat gel.

BB powder in 2 colours: translucent and natural. Powder in translucent is very
shimmery but I feel that it is a little too white. Powder in natural is far too
white to be suitable for Singaporeans unless you are super fair.

BB cream in 2 versions: Essence cream and Matte cream with whitening plus.
I was quite disappointed with this bb cream as it makes your skin looks 'fake' as
it is too white. Its thick texture also makes it difficult to apply on.

Ditch the Caffeine! Try Frunatic, Singapore first fast FRUIT restaurant at Star Vista

This shop caught my attention when it was in the midst of setting up. I love its French white concept, especially the cute lamp posts. The shop has finally opened its doors in Feb 2013 and all set up! Frunatic is a fast FRUIT restaurant that serves healthy food juices and fruit salads. Their juicers are specially imported from USA which are able to retain nutrients better than other normal commercial juicers.
Still setting up

Opened! A lovely and cosy environment for small gatherings!

Ditch the caffeine and opt for healthy options like fruit juices and alkaline water.
They do serve fruit salads too!

Alkaline Water ($2) This helps to neutralise acids in our body and
restore cell functions.

Organic herbs - Lavender, Elderflowers, Hibiscus, Calendula and Rose.
Craving for flower tea? This is the place to get it! Will try the lavender
ones after I finish mine at home.

Attention all vegans! Another option for cakes. Frunatic's cakes are free from flour,
refined sugar, dairy or eggs! They are made by freezing the different layers together!
They didn't have any cakes on sale that day but they do have testers for them. I tried
the chocolate cake and it's awesome.

Just when I was thinking that was about all Frunatic could offer, these machines
caught my attention. They are selling their juicers too! Above is the vertical
masticating juicer from Omega, a renowned brand for juicers in USA.
It is on promotion right now at $538.

Above is masticating juicer from Omega, also priced at $538. The difference between
this and the vertical juicer above is that this is preferred for juicing vegetables. The rest
of the functions are the same.
So what makes Omega juicers so unique?
  • As compared to commercial juicers which centrifuge at high speeds which thus introduces more oxygen and heat into the juices, this has a processing speed of 80 RPM prevents the oxidation and degradation of fresh juices.
  • User-friendly - Easy to assemble, operate and clean.
  • Continuous juicing with automatic pulp extraction.
Dehydrator from Excalibur ($599). Instead of munching on potato chips loaded
with artificial flavourings, dehydrate fruits for healthy snacks.

The dehydrated orange slices are good!

They have a corner for kids to play while the parents could take a break for drinks.

Review: Innisfree mineral shimmering base

This is one of the best makeup product that I have got from Korea. It is a makeup base with micro pearls enriched with Jeju natural minerals and organic green tea for its moisturizing effects. It is applied before foundation and it gives a natural glow to your face.
Sold at all Innisfree outlets in Korea at 15000 won. (~SGD $17.20).
It is also available in Singapore via Qoo10 (http://list.qoo10.sg/item/INNISFREE-INNISFREE-MINERAL-SHIMMERING-BASE/403552009) at SGD$18.50 including shipping.

Also comes in another 2 versions, Mineral colour primer (in 2 skin tones)
and Moisture fitting base (for dry skin).

Review: Eat at Taipei at Chinatown Point

The newly revamped Chinatown Point was a pleasant surprise and a great addition to a somewhat boring Chinatown. With close proximity to the nearby Parkroyal hotel and other tourist attractions, Chinatown Point is no doubt a good place for tourists to settle their daily meals and necessities. Some of the shops in Chinatown Point include Daiso, NTUC fairprice, Watsons and National Library. It also has a few restaurants and we have decided to try Eat at Taipei. Eat at Taipei serves a variety of popular Taiwanese street food and has both outdoor and indoor seats. Unfortunately, both the standard of food and service wasn't up to the mark and it was really disappointing.

Will I be back? No. The food they served is too disappointing and they are expensive considering the standard of food served.

Danzai Noodle Soup, $7.50.
This reminds me of the noodles soup that I ate at my primary school canteen. Apparently,
it is supposed to come with minced pork but I don't see any. Portion is small too.

Crispy fried chicken.$7.50
Chicken is overcooked and the flour coating the chicken is so hard until it has detached
from the chicken.

Passion fruit shaved ice. $6.90
This is not too bad but portion size is small. One could get a better version of
shaved ice from the traditional shops a few streets down the road.

Review: The Wine Loft at Holland Village

The Wine Loft is a cosy restaurant that serves middle eastern food and vegetarian options are available. However, this place is definitely not for those who dislike the strong flavour of spices. For full menu, go to http://d2jzxcrnybzkkt.cloudfront.net/uploads/2013/01/TheWineLoftFood_jpg_1359450023.jpg.

Will I be back? Yes, but only for drinks. They have a 2-hr free flow wine buffet available at $28++ which is very value for money.

Sausage Platter, $18
Sausages are nicely cooked but I feel that 8 sausages for 2 persons are a little too much.

Sanboosik, Stuffed pastries of minced lamb, onion and pine nuts, $12

Vegetable Kebab, $22.
Portion is big. You can give this a miss if you do not like strong spice flavours.
