W-Hotel Singapore - The Kitchen Table

W-Hotel Singapore - The Kitchen Table

Ever since W Hotel has opened its doors in Oct 2012, I have always wanted to try its international buffet aka The Kitchen Table. Didn't have much expectations before I came as there are quite a number of bad reviews about W hotel in general on tripadvisor.

However, the overall experience at kitchen table was good. Service was excellent but food variety was limited given the fact that it was an international buffet.

For the Japanese section, there are only two kinds of raw sashimi, takopachi and around 6 kinds of sushi.

For Indian section, there are many kinds of crackers which I loved and prata that they make instantly plus two to three kinds of indian dishes. I'm not a fan of indian food so I gave the indian dishes a miss.
I was glad that the crackers are still crispy as I have ate sloggy ones at other hotel buffets.

For Chinese section, there are noodles which I skipped and 3 steamed items. Steamed cod fish is fresh and without any freshy smell. Its flavour is somewhat alike to those you eat at wedding banquets. Steamed crab with glutinous rice was ok but don't expect the juicy kind which you eat at jumbo. These crabs are a little bland and small.

They did the best in their western cuisine with two chefs readily available to whip out your desired pasta.
Although the squid ink spaghetti looks a little disgusting, this is seriously good.
Their mushroom soup was one of the nicest that I have ever tried. It has tiny chunks of mushrooms in it and without the 'campbell saltiness' taste.

They have an excellent presentation of their desserts. Those flowers below are edible too! Desserts are generally above average and unusual. At least I managed to finish most of the desserts as compared to just a mouthful here and there at many other places.

Their cutlery and cups are worth mentioning as they are so pretty.

Will I go back again? Maybe? When there is credit card promotions or deals.

Ratings for kitchen table ( Five stars is the maximum)

Service: *****
Food: ***1/2 due to limited variety but quality of each food item is mostly above average.
Ambience: ****
Location: ** , located at the far end of sentosa, it is very inaccessible. You would either need to drive in or wait for its shuttle bus at vivo city. It is definitely not walkable from the sentosa monorail station.
